National Nursing Home Week at Heritage Care Center

PictureAloha! We had a great time here at Heritage Care Center during National Nursing Home Week!

The theme for the week was “Aloha,” so we created events that focused on exploration—of both Hawaiian culture and other cultures.

We started on Monday with our annual Mother/Daughter Banquet, which was appropriate since Mother’s day was the day before. Everyone enjoyed a fabulous meal and took a step back in time with a presentation on wedding fashions from 1900 through the 1970s by Yesterday’s Lady, better known as Susan McLain. She is a resident of Beatrice, NE and has Nebraska’s largest collection of vintage clothing that she keeps on display there. It was a lovely evening!

On Tuesday, we enjoyed music by The Trinity Lutheran Ladies and The Singing Cowboy. Wednesday, the residents took part in a Hawaiian bake and taste. After the event, the Leadership team delivered the rest of the goodies to the local businesses and the senior diner—in full Hawaiian costume!

On Thursday, the residents were tested on their knowledge of Hawaiian trivia and our alumni joined us for a luau lunch. It was great to see the reunions of friends and neighbors. On Friday we enjoyed a heated game of beach ball toss! It was a fun-filled week and everyone stated they had a great time!

Quality Life-We will create a living environment that radiates love, peace, spiritual contentment, dignity and safety, while encouraging personal independence.
