Activities Director for Heritage Care Center of Fairbury, Tracy Shaw, wanted to carry on the tradition done at the local care facility in spreading autism awareness, but took it up a notch this year.

Heritage Care Center has long done something special for World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, which includes putting blue lights on the facilities campus. A longtime resident of the Heritage Care Center was on the spectrum and to pay homage to that resident, Shaw wanted to do something special.

After looking at several ideas online, Shaw was struck with a human ribbon drawing awareness to a cause.

“I wanted to do something special this year and saw the ribbon online and thought that would be something different,” Shaw said.
